Teeth whitening for your wedding day
Teeth whitening for your wedding day We all want to look our best for weddings and teeth whitening is a highly effective way of lightening the natural colour of your teeth without removing or damaging the tooth surface. It will not make a complete colour change but it will lighten the existing shade.

Teeth do get discoloured with time and with tea, coffee and spicy food. Smoking, red wine and coloured drinks also contribute to this. Accumulations of calculus or tartar and staining caused by antibiotics all can be treated with tooth whitening.

At Bhuva Dental Care we initially give you a FREE consultation when your teeth are assessed for suitability and the appropriate procedure is explained to you.

Procedure
There are two essential ways of tooth whitening; Home whitening and surgery whitening or a combination of the two.

In home whitening we prepare snug fitting transparent trays for your teeth. These are used for placing and holding the whitening gel provided on the teeth for a minimum period of two hours daily or overnight for a faster result. A good result is normally seen in a space of three to five weeks.

In surgery whitening (or Power whitening/Laser whitening) this process is actually carried out in the dental chair over a period of one to one and a half hours. We obviously use a stronger whitening gel to coat the teeth and a bright white light or laser is used to accelerate the bleaching process. Teeth usually go between five to eight shades lighter. This procedure is very popular with wedding couples who wish their smiles enhanced for photographs.

Results
The effects of the whitening are thought to last up to three years. This varies from person to person and will depend on diet; smoking and drink. We would give you a good idea at the time of your first consultation.

The side effects of tooth whitening are generally minor. There may be tooth sensitivity to temperature during treatment usually countered with fluoride mouthwash or desensitising toothpastes. Sore gums and white patches may also occur – these are temporary and harmless.

Cost
The cost of this treatment varies from £295 for home whitening to £395 for surgery whitening. To contact Naresh Bhuva, please ring Bhuva Dental Care on 020 7034 1840 or visit their website at www.bhuvadentalcare.co.uk for the latest information.
